Garmin eTrex Carrying Case

I have not noticed any signal degradation when using the carry case. The Yellow eTrex still locks on and maintains its lock on the satellites with ease.

The Garmin Carry Case for the eTrex and Summit handheld GPS units is a convenient accessory for securely attaching the unit to a belt, backpack loop, or jacket pocket. The case has a clear plastic cover over the GPS screen, a belt clip (stiff spring steel) on the back, and leaves good access to the control buttons. The GPS slides into the case and a Velcro strap secures the case onto the GPS. A small opening at the bottom of the carry case allows the lanyard to be attached. The case is NOT a sealed covering: it just provides some scratch protection and the belt clip.

I have used the carry case to attach my GPS to a loop at the top of my small hydration pack when I am out on training runs. The high position gives excellent satellite exposure, and the carry case clip makes a very secure attachment even when bouncing around while running on uneven trails. I also put the lanyard through a clip as a backup, but I haven't had any issues.

A recommended, helpful accessory.

The Garmin eTrex Carry Case works very well with my Garmin eTrex Vista C. It is easy to see the screen, work the controls, and most importantly, it protects the GPS from those accidental drops that can occur on the trail. I dropped my GPS recently while on a hike. It tumbled several feet down some rocks. I thought it would be damaged, but the case did an excellent job of protecting it. Not a scratch. It's worth the money to protect your investment... just remember to attach the teather that came with the GPS to the back of the carry case!

I've had my Legend Cx for about a month now and I bought the carry case along with it. The unit fits snuggly into the case and keeps the unit clean while still giving me full access to the controls. If I had to come up with something negative to say about it, I'd say it narrows the width of the screen an insignificant amount. This doesn't hinder my ability to use it though, so to me it's minor. I keep the case on 24/7 it's a tough black plastic/rubber, and strechy (neo-prene?), with a small reflective strip along the top (which I imagine would be a life saver if you dropped it in the dark!). Secure thredwork too. I was walking in the rain for six hours on one hike and the carry case kept most of the water off the unit, though the thick plastic window did begin to fog a little near the end of my trek, but it was easily wiped off. There's also a little hole in the base for your wrist strap to pop out of if you have that attached, but I like the belt clip on the carry case (since my Legend didn't come with a belt clip). The case also makes my eTrex easier to jam between my dashboard and windshield while I'm driving and any reflective rays the carry case's window may pick up can be dispersed by slightly moving the unit to the left or right. Needless to say, I'm pleased.
